americans strive after glowing dark skin. because it is not natural to most of us in this melting pot of a country, a tan can be hard to achieve. this brought about the countless tanning salons, spray tan machines, and endless skin care regimens to keep from developing serious diseases from our quest for a natural radiant look. even though i have been a fan of tanning beds in the past (and still am regardless of the long list of side effects, how awful!) recently spending the money and time to get a tan is not for me. today, as the first beauty post of allthingscoco, i want to share a few sunless tanning products that i have found very effective for an everyday glowing tan.
tarte brazilliance is a "skin rejuvenating maracuja self tanner." ulta is giving this product as a free sample with any tarte purchase, as well as 5x the points on tarte right now, so perfect time to get pick up some to experiment with. (so much advertising ulta should pay me.. oh wait.) this is probably my favorite self tanner at the moment. not only does it leave your skin a beautiful deep color, it also moisturizes while doing so. the best time for me to apply is after i shower in the morning. allow to dry while doing hair or makeup and then throw on clothes and go. give the lotion 8 hours to set in before you shower, shave or exercise. you only have to do this once or twice a week to keep the warm color.
st. tropez is a very popular sunless tanning line that has a lot of different products to try. my favorite would be the "one night only" instant glow body lotion. this product is meant to be worn for only a short period of time and washed off at the end of the day. but if you want instant color, this is the perfect choice! it also gives a nice radiance or sparkle to your skin. not enough to shine from a mile away, but just a pretty glow in the sun. every time i put this on i feel like i have beyonce worthy legs. who doesn't want to feel like they have beyonce worthy legs???
finally, for a girl on a budget, banana boat summer color is a drug store go to. it naturally adjusts to your skin tone so you will not have any orange lines or uneven color. if you would like just even skin tone, go for the light/medium color. it will not give you much of a tan, but should be used for more of a neutralizing leg makeup. if you want to go darker, then buy the shade tan/dark. one downfall of this brand is it needs to be reapplied fairly often to keep the healthy looking color. these products run about $10, which is great compared to tanning bed prices!
